Sumax berichtet: Im Jahr 2010 wurden von deutschen Handynutzern rund 900 Millionen Apps heruntergeladen. Dies ist eine Steigerung um 50% im Vergleich zum Jahr 2009. Bei genauerer Betrachtung wird jedoch deutlich, dass die Deutschen bevorzugt kostenfreie Apps herunterladen. Lediglich 110 Millionen Apps waren kostenpflichtig. Diese Zahlen gehen aus einer aktuellen Untersuchung des Berliner Marktforschers Research2guidance hervor.
Das Herunterladen kostenpflichtiger Apps hat sich im Vergleich der beiden Jahre nicht groß geändert. Während im Jahr 2009 rund 12% der heruntergeladenen Apps kostenpflichtig waren, ist der prozentuale Anteil im Jahr 2010 lediglich auf 14% gestiegen. Der Umsatz mit kostenpflichtigen Applikationen hat sich jedoch aufgrund der starken Steigerung der Downloads von 187 Millionen Euro (2009) auf 374 Millionen Euro (2010) fast verdoppelt.
